What is FTP?
File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is a system to transfer files from your desktop machine to the web server where your website is made available to the public. It is similar to Windows Explorer in all the Microsoft Operating Sytems. You can use it to copy, move, rename & delete files. You use ftp to change the file permission settings (CHMOD) on a Unix/Linux server.
